Janice Covington Allison Candidate for Chair of the North - TopicsExpress

Janice Covington Allison Candidate for Chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party Dear Party member: I would like to introduce myself. I am Janice Covington Allison, a proud member of the North Carolina Democratic Party. Our party advocates for social justice, inclusiveness, and diversity and I know that we share pride in that heritage. As a Tar Heel, I also know that you take pride in moving our great state of North Carolina forward. These two reasons are just a few of my motivations to run for the Chair position of our party “As Democrats we know that we are all in this together is a better philosophy than ‘you are on your own.’” President, Bill Clinton. I have been an active member of the North Carolina Democratic Party since 1972. I have built signboards, worked phone banks, assisted with mailings, as well as attended many events and party meetings in this time. I held many roles in our party over the years and the one thing that I always remember about our party is that we worked together as one with the common goal to elect the candidates of our party. Under the leadership of Governor Jim Hunt, I was a proud part of our great Democratic Machine back in the day. In those times we did not allow Republicans to get a foothold in our state. Sure, we slipped a couple of times, but we rebounded stronger than ever. I worked with good Democrats like the late Congressman Bill Hefner, Governor Bob Scott, Cabarrus County party Chair Frank Liske, Labor Commissioner Billy Creel and House Member Dwight Quinn, just to name a few, who would all turn over in their graves if they knew our state had turned purple. As a party we must come together again as it once was. It is time that we oil that old machine and take our state back! For many years now, I have seen our party separate into fractured groups that cannot come together because of independent agendas. As Chair I will work to create harmony, it is going to take all of us to set aside our differences in order to accomplish the mission of taking back the U.S. Capital and the leadership of this great state. Another priority for our party is to address the challenges of gerrymandered districts, which have created an unfair advantage for the Republican Party. There are a large number of seats where Republicans ran unopposed. I feel that the party must ensure that Democrats are organized at the local level, identify and support electable candidates for those districts. We cannot continue to let this happen. If I am elected to be your Chair, I will work diligently to resolve this issue in a collaborative way. Thank you for considering me for your next North Carolina State Democratic Party Chair. Hugs to you all, Janice Covington Allison More Information below.
