January 10, 2010 I came to know Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Days later a massive earthquake brings the already impoverished nation of Haiti to its knees. Instantly I began to feel this burning desire to go their and do......well I dont know what other than give love. A few months later I stepped off of an airplane in Port-a-Prince Haiti and I was hooked. Immediately I fell in love with the people, the culture, the land itself, an specifically a little boy named Robinson. Since that day I have prayed that God would let me be involved with making a difference in Haiti. Not just putting a band aid on Haiti, but in something that would make a real and lasting difference; something that would change, for the better, life in Haiti. Tonight, I believe God answered that prayer. Tonight was my first board meeting as a member of the board of directors of of Hope Rising Childrens Home. As I drove home tonight, I thought back over the past several years of my involvement in Haiti and how each moment has brought me closer to where I am now. Now that God has answered that prayer, its time to begin a new prayer. God, give me the strength to be everything that you want me to be for this amazing ministry that I am now a part of. And most of all, thank you for giving me this chance.
