January 14th, 2014 ~ Tuesday Today is my first day in Dublin! I am very excited about this leg. Tho it is the last leg of this incredible Journey, it is the one with the most emotional & poignant part of all of them. Dublin is where the film PARKED was filmed and I expect there will be many ‘OMG’ moments. I get up early and head to the bus station for my ride back to Belfast, where I will take a train on down to Dublin. One of the good things about getting up before the sun is the opportunity to get the watch the sun rise. It was a luvly day to see such a sight. And though I am sad to be leaving Colin’s home town, I am equally excited for my next adventure. I get to Belfast and after a bit of a walk I make it to the train station. Since this trip is only going to be about 1-1/2 hours, I had splurged on a first class ticket. It really was not all the expensive, in spite of the fact it is first class. It was definitely worth it to have. There was a nice booth, with a table, to sit at. Loads of room to spread out, and the cabin was not very busy. I got to take out my planning guide all out, to get organized before my arrival. The ticket also included a free orange juice! Yumm! But I did order some tea and settled in for a relaxing and very enjoyable ride down to Dublin. I took a few snaps of the luvly Irish countryside, but mostly just sat back with my tea and reflected on how my life has changed so much since finding Colin Morgan and Cathal. After some time I finally see the out skirts of Dublin. Took my first snap of the Poolbeg Chimneys, they are a very prominent and such an integral part of the Dublin-scape, as well as, a very special place in my soul. You can see these towers from practically anywhere! My first day is all about those Chimneys, but first I needed to find Walton Music store to purchase a new Bodhran so I can get to the pub later to play a session. After a nice look around while looking for the store, I head out to Ringsend to visit the locations of PARKED. The weather was moody which really reflected my mood ~ perfect day. I left the letter I wrote to Cathal at the location of his death, and made my peace with him. After an emotional visit, I made it back into the city for some good grub and Guinness. Took out my new drum to admire and set to have a nice warm, dry, take-my-time meal. I headed to the hostel for an early night because I have a big day tomorrow on my first WHOLE day in Dublin. Good night!
