January 15 Song: Echoes From The Burning Bush Artist: The Cathedrals Music Link: youtube/watch?v=0gmI1F_RgGw As I thought about Moses encounter with the burning brush there are several things that are obvious. Moses was going about life as usual tending Jethro’s flocks when something caught his eye. The bible text is clear that Moses saw the Angel of Lord and when he looked upon the bush it was on fire, but not being consumed by the flames. When Moses turned aside, God made his presence known and made it clear that God himself was speaking to him. Moses choice to follow God not only changed his life, it has impacted untold numbers of people. It was here that Moses was told by God that he would use Moses as a tool to set his chosen people free. God would free them from the tyranny and oppression of their Egyptian masters. The rest is history! Moses believed God and acted in faith to follow God’s commands. Was Moses road an easy one, certainly not! Did Moses have heartaches and frustrations, I think that is clear. So what we see in Moses is a man that was changed to the core by a personal relationship with God. We see Moses struggle but maintain that relationship through his actions and prayer. We see God not only set the bush on fire but set Moses on fire with an urgency to follow and obey God. So today the echoes from the burning bush remind me that God wants to save everyone! Has your relationship with Jesus set you on fire to communicate the good news of Christ gift of salvation? I am resistant to do this because I often am afraid that I will not have the right words. Moses had the same complaint, but Moses did as God instructed him and God used Moses faithfulness in a mighty way. Have you really had a burning bush experience with God? Has God truly changed your life, are have you just seen God from afar? Will you go your way or will you go God’s way? Verse of the Day: Exodus 3:1-6 1 Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2 And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. 3 Then Moses said, I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn. 4 So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, Moses, Moses! And he said, Here I am. 5 Then He said, Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground. 6 Moreover He said, I am the God of your father--the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God.
