January 2, 2014 marked my last day as an employee of the United States Senate and working for one of the greatest Senators of all time, Carl Levin. It also marked the end of the first chapter of my professional career; as this was my first and only job following graduation from MSUs James Madison College in 2003. In determining what Chapter 2 or Life After Levin was going to look like, my family and I worked through many different scenarios. In the end, we decided that in order to maintain the quality of life we had come to love and enjoy, we needed to find something that kept us Working, Living and Playing here in Northern Michigan. That something became harnessing an entrepreneurial spirit, developing a concept, building a framework and starting my own business, Northern Strategies 360, a comprehensive government affairs consulting business based here in Traverse City. My family and I are very excited about this new venture and know that while hard work lies ahead, we are lucky to have an opportunity to build, grow and run a business here in Northern Michigan.
