January 22, 2014 I spoke to my Oncologist (Chemotherapy) today - TopicsExpress

January 22, 2014 I spoke to my Oncologist (Chemotherapy) today and we reviewed the results from my CT and PET scan. The CT scan showed no real growth in the ‘spots’ discovered in my lung from several months ago but the PET scan dis show there was still activity there and in a lymph node near the same lung. At this point we have agreed to continue to monitor the situation with additional scans in the coming months and look at chemo as an option later to slow the cancer growth. Bottom line is that the cancer is not curable and it has spread. The Prognosis is unknown as to life expectancy. I guess you will know when I know qas you share my journey. My immediate need is to get physically stronger and healthier so I can deal with the possible impact of chemo later. The sword of Damocles continues. I spoke with my wife and we are moving ahead together on my decision to wait. I do feel less anxious but it is a weight I continue to carry. Once again, I can share with all of you, that you can’t take anything for granted. Don’t take your loved ones, your life, your health, for granted. Truly live in the moment and don’t put off that idea or that thought, that goal. Life can change in an instant. Don’t be pressured to be with anything or anyone that doesn’t feel right. My fight isn’t over and the people in my life, and those I haven’t even met yet, are amazing, caring and supportive. The least I can be is to care and be supportive in return. You will all have as much as I can give, as long as I can….. my friends.
