January 24, 2014 We will be celebrating Catholic Schools Week during January 27th through January 31st. The theme for this year is “Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service”. All Catholic schools in the United States will be celebrating this week with many activities, etc. Our activities at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School are as follows: Friday – January 24th – Spirit Awards Banquet @ 6:00 p.m. This banquet is hosted by the Catholic School Office in the diocese and the monies raised are for the tuition assistance program. This year’s recipients are Jessica and Julio Rodriguez. Sunday – January 26th – Opening Mass for Catholic Schools Week @ 12:30 p.m. Mass - Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. We ask all school children and parents to attend this Mass for the official kickoff of Catholic Schools Week. We will be asking parents and children to participate in this Mass. Please bring your child to Mass in uniform that day. Also on this day, we will host an Open House and a School Book Fair (in the parish hall). Listed are the activities we have planned for the week: Monday – Jan. 27th “Community of Faith” Pajama and stuffed animal day Activities: Religious Movie and popcorn Tuesday – Jan. 28th “Community of Knowledge” Crazy Hair/Crazy Socks /Dress Backwards Day and Ice Cream Activities: Quiz Show Games for Math, Science, Religion and Reading Wednesday – Jan. 29th “Community of Service” Team Shirt Day (such as Cowboys, Red Sox, etc.) Activities: Field Day and Nachos and Cheese • Montessori – 9:00-10:00 a.m. • Grades 1-4 – 10:15-11:15 a.m. • Grades 5-6 – 1:45-2:45 p.m. Thursday – Jan. 30th “Community of Knowledge” Dress as a Class Theme Day Activities: Classroom Activities – Kids bring a in a snack Friday – Jan. 31st “Community of Faith” Western Day (dress in western wear) Activities: Square Dancing w/ Mrs. Sullivan and Ice Cream • Montessori – 9:00 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. • Grades 1-3 – 10:15 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. • Grades 4-6 – 11:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. If any parent would like to volunteer during this week, please call the school office. Parents are always welcomed. Thank you. Book Fair-The Scholastic Book Fair will also be opened each day during school hours. P.N. No uniforms all week. However, on any dress down day, parents are reminded that the students should wear appropriate tops and bottoms. (See handbook page 16.)
