January 27th, 70 years ago: Auschwitz! Not to repeat what all, most, know, but look at it from a different angle: the Allies knowledge. The Red Army (USSR) liberating Auschwitz (abandoned by the Germans taking thousands to death walks) was appalled by the horror of death incarnate. Left or right upon getting off the train meant life or death. For the immediate future. Hell just starting. Not the first (Armenia) nor last (Rwanda) genocide in the 20th century, but 1 which was done with all the might of indoctrination of White & Aryan Supremacy and industrialized means for maximum death... Yet Mengele or Canada room etc mean none to most today. Amid Holocaust deniers (to question is fine but to claim it didnt happen is wrong, subtle nuance) & still existing anti-semitism worldwide, European Jews lived their worse time. Since Titus, 2000 years of ostracism, fr Shakespeares Merchant of Venice to Spains Tribunal of the Inquisition to Russias Pale of settlement, few would have expected that the superior advanced German society of Sigmund Freud and Albert Einstein would birth Hitler, Himmler & Heynrich. Yet signs were there just as the infamous Zyklon-B invented by Fritz Haber (a German Jew chemist who struggled with his scientifical inventions & their moral impact). The Shoah, apex of Mans inhumanity to Man! P.S. Jews werent the only ones killed at Auschwitz-Birkenau, Treblinka, Sobibor etc There were Gypsies & mentally handicapped, communists and Catholics and... Blacks!
