January 3, 2015 Positive Christianity Ministries presents...Positive Daily Inspiration I WISH YOU ENOUGH!!! Let us love one another. First John 4:7 Author, Bob Perks wrote: Recently I overheard a father and daughter in their last moments together. They had announced her departure and standing near the security gate, they hugged and he said, I love you. I wish you enough. She in turn said, Daddy, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Daddy. They kissed and she left. He walked over toward the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see he wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on his privacy, but he welcomed me in by asking, Did you ever say goodbye to someone knowing it would be forever? Yes, I have, I replied. Saying that brought back memories I had of expressing my love and appreciation for all my Dad had done for me. Recognizing that his days were limited, I took the time to tell him face to face how much he meant to me. So I knew what this man was experiencing. Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever goodbye? I asked. I am old and she lives much too far away. I have challenges ahead, and the reality is, the next trip back will be for my funeral, he said. When you were saying goodbye I heard you say, ‘I wish you enough.’ May I ask what that means? He began to smile. Thats a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone. He paused for a moment and looking up as if trying to remember it in detail, he smiled even more. When we said I wish you enough, we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them, but not SO MUCH that it stops living normal life he continued, and then turning toward me he shared the following as if he were reciting it from memory: I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright. I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more. I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive. I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger. I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting. I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess. I wish enough ‘Hellos’ to get you through the final Goodbyes. He then began to sob and walked away. A story is told about a compassionate woman who saw a butterfly struggling to be released from its cocoon. The woman watched the butterfly struggle, as long as she could, and then she was motivated to help. Carefully, and gently, she broke away the cocoon to free the butterfly. She did not realize that her help would actually hinder the butterfly for life. The butterfly, not having to struggle, did not develop the muscles needed to fly. The woman thought she was helping, but in taking away the butterflys struggle, she took away the tools needed for its life. One of the hardest things to learn in life is that it is not always wise to impose our will on others. Each soul must walk his, or her, own path. The path may be quite different from ours, and yet, it is exactly whats needed for the soul growth of the other person. We are all in a process of learning and growing. We pray for those we love that they will always have enough. If you have been concerned about another person, thinking that they should act, or react, differently, you remember that God is with the person you are concerned with. You realize that others, like you, are seeking to express the highest and best that is within them, even though we may be at different levels of enfoldment. You give the best gift to others by praying for them and you stand ready to help, and bless, when they ask for, and can accept, the help offered. We wish them enough. Even if you cannot see it with your human eyes, you know that God is at work just beneath the surface. You are empowered and strengthened by God to let them live without your criticism and judgment. You pray that you can have a better understanding of them. You are willing to allow others the freedom to follow their own path and, as you do, you feel a corresponding freedom in yourself. You are no longer concerned with differences, you are concerned with loving others unconditionally, always wanting to others to have enough. Humanity has to mature to a point that it accepts and embraces differences. You see the good of God at work in others, and realize their innate goodness. Relationships are what we focus upon. You will see good in the other person that is praiseworthy. I WISH YOU ENOUGH!!!
