January 30th “For in him we live and move and have our being. As some of your own poets have said, “We are his offspring.” Acts 17:28 To be called the children of God, to have favor with the Most High, a title given by grace not by merit. Contrary to popular belief our physical birth does not make us children of God, but rather God’s choosing and ordaining, long before the foundations of the world were created (see Ephesians 1:4-5). And what of our portion in this glorious relationship, we receive Him, but not merely by our own strength but by the irresistible grace that has drawn us to Him. What is a life that has not entered into this union with the Creator? Living, breathing, eating and waiting for death, but those who are Born Again while outwardly may appear the same as others, but inwardly are altogether different. “For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God” Colossians 3:3. The burdens of life can take their toll on us, but those who trust in the Lord have an endless supply of courage, our hope is not based on temporary peace, but the eternal promise from God who cannot lie, “God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? (Numbers 23:19) So, my brothers and sisters, consider this awesome blessing bestowed on you by Almighty God, and be exceedingly glad for what awaits us is beyond description. “But as it is written, Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9
