January 5th, 2015 “Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him. . .” Luke 24:31 Oh Lord in this New Year, I beg of you, let me know You more! It says of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus, that “their eyes were restrained so that they did not know [Jesus].” The reason their eyes were restrained may have been because their eyes were not fixed on God. Their eyes were fixed on certain things which had occurred in their lives which they did not understand. It was only after Jesus drew near to them and spoke to them and gave them understanding and sat with them and ate with them, that “their eyes were opened and they knew Him.” O Lord forgive me for taking my eyes off of you this past year and fixing them on things which I do not fully understand! This year, Lord, draw near to me and speak to me and give me understanding and sit with me and eat with me, so that “my eyes will be opened” and that I would “know You!” In Jesus’ name, Amen!
