January for Seniors • Complete the FAFSA Form o Get a copy of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). o The FAFSA is the federal form used by colleges to compute your financial aid package o You and your parents should complete the form even if you don’t think you’re eligible for need based aid. The FAFSA may qualify you for federal loans, scholarships grants and work study jobs once you’re in college o You can get a copy from your counselor o By calling or 800-4fedaid o Or at fafsa.ed.gov o the earlier you file, the better chance of larger grant. • Complete and send financial aid applications, ensuring you have completed FAFSA and PROFILE if required. • If a seventh semester transcript is required, ask your counselor to send it. • Private college applicants need to supply a mid-year report. • Maintain your second semester grades and beware of senioritis/laziness. The year is not over academically and colleges can rescind their acceptances if your grades drastically plummet.
