Japan Industrial Production On Tap For Tuesday Japan is on Tuesday scheduled to release preliminary June figures for industrial production, setting the pace for a busy day in Asia-Pacific economic news. Output is expected to fall 1.5 percent on month and 2.6 percent on year after rising 1.9 percent on month and losing 1.1 percent on year in May. Japan also will see June numbers for household spending, unemployment and vehicle production, as well as July data on small business confidence. Household spending is tipped to add 1.4 percent on year after dipping 1.6 percent in May. The u8nemployment rate is expected to ease to 4.0 percent from 4.1 percent in the previous month. Vehicle production was down an annual 6.2 percent in May, while the small business confidence index saw a score of 49.6 in June. Australia will provide June figures for building approvals, with analysts expecting a 2.0 percent increase on month and a flat reading on year. That follows the 1.1 percent monthly contraction and the 3.2 percent annual decline in May. New Zealand will release June numbers for building permits; in May, permits were up 1.3 percent on month. South Korea will provide June numbers for industrial production and current account. Output is expected to rise 0.5 percent on month and fall 0.5 percent on year after shedding 0.4 percent on month and 1.4 percent on year in May. The current account saw a surplus of $7.82 billion in May.
