Japan Trip Day 1 Took off for Narita Airport this morning with Candida, Tze Hui and Wei Li after a short breakfast. Had a nice flight where most of us watched some movies on the SQ flight, since it was day time.. I really enjoyed the movie Thermae Romae 2, where I watched the 1st one.. really entertaining abt how this Roman goes into the future by accident and learns how to build better hot springs baths from modern Japan in his ancient Rome.. So we touched down at 5 pm, picked up the pocket wifi I ordered online from the post office and took the NEX train to Shinjuku to check into the Capsule Hotel Candida booked for us.. (pictures to come later on) A very nicely put together and compact place with pretty gd amenities like cosy bunk bed with TV and charging pts, rest/lounge area which has a laundromat and vending machines, as well as communal hot bath.. wonder if can bring such a hotel concept back to Sg.. For dinner, we ate at Ichiran tonkatsu Ramen, highly recommended by some website.. not bad Id say, flavour not bad, char siew so so,but gd to have hot soup noodles to warm up the body in the cold night.. (6 degrees but wind chill quite strong).. The design concept for the restaurant is 1 where u place ur order at the vending machine outside, putting in the $$ 1st.. then ure ushered to a booth where ur order is processed and they bring ur food to u thru a small slot (half the size of a window) so u never quite see the face of ur server.. its meant to be those quick eat and go kinda place I suppse.. we managed to go in while theres not much of a queue but later on, it was quite a crowd.. cld hear of a few Sporeans around too.. So after dinner, we headed back and are bunking for the night.. Tmr, we before we set off for Hakone, were goin on a Samurai tour we bought from JTB.. hope it proves interesting.. wld be nice if theyd let us wield a real katana to cut somethg.. =D If anyone has suggestions on what to do in Hakone, pls comment below!
