Japan plans to regulate and tax bitcoin. This is a direct reaction to the Mt. Gox collapse, but probably would have happened anyway. At this point we can safely say that the paradigm of bitcoin being stateless and untraceable will shift towards government oversight and accountability. Perhaps not altogether a bad thing considering how several of the the exchanges dont seem to have any idea where their bitcoins are.
