Japan to Build Yangon Power Plant The Japanese government has recently signed a deal confirming that it will run a 500 megawatt (MW) natural gas power plant in Yangon. The plant will be located at Hlaing Thayar Industrial Zone in the west of the city and is expected to be completed by 2015.An agreement was signed on the development when Japanese Minister for Economy ,Trade and Industry met with Myanmar President in Nay Pyi Taw in August. The Minister agreed to provide technical aid for the power plant. The electricity generated from the power plant is enough to power the industrial zone as well as surrounding areas. K.Z.Mon
