Nukualofa, Tonga HE Dr Kazuchika Hamuro cuts the ribbon to the entrance of the upgraded facilities of Hofangahau College, ‘Eua. 18 July 2014 The assistance to GPS Tufuvai, valued at TOP$183,32, included three new classrooms, a renovated teacher’s accommodation building, a new water tank, and bathroom facilities. Hofangahau College which have just celebrated 54th Anniversary has a new Home Economics classroom and multi-purpose classroom, valued at TOP$195,993. Both projects were financed under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP). HE Dr Kazuchika Hamuro, Japan’s Ambassador to Tonga handed over the projects during two separate commissioning ceremonies. Dr Hamuro said it’s important to have healthier educational environment for both students and teachers. He stressed that access to good education is an extremely important component of any society, “It allows communities to grow”. “The improved educational enviroment will contribute to build a foundation for young people to participate in a society, and empowers them to prepare for their future and to play important roles in the future development of Tonga.”
