Japanese author Haruki Murakami shares his thoughts on memory - TopicsExpress

Japanese author Haruki Murakami shares his thoughts on memory being individual and collective, a trademark of his work and an idea I recall from Western psychology (I am a huge fan of Carl Jungs collective unconscious). Murakami elaborates how much he disliked Japanese culture growing up. Despite his need to get away from it, he tells The New Yorker how much more important it became to write about Japan after living in the West (including Europe!) Its been awhile since Ive been inspired by a literary work as much as Murakamis. Just wanted to recommend the novel if youre looking for something to read, especially if youre hoping for a good long yarn: so far IQ84 has been mesmerizing and beautifully written, and Aomame is one of my favorite badass female leads ever. Hope you take some time to read this week :)
