Jaroso details (as of 3:45pm June 11) Acres: 1500 Containment: 0% Summary: The fire is burning in the Pecos Wilderness in very remote/steep terrain with abundant fuels, which is contributing to extreme fire behavior. Firefighter safety is a main priority at this time. The fire is making major runs toward Truchas Peak and Trailrider Wall with a 1/4 mile spotting observed and is now burning in the blowdown from 2006. Spotting occurs when “large group torching” takes place and burning embers are transported ahead of the burning front of the fire. Resources: The Southwest Incident Management Team, led by Incident Commander Tony Sciacca, will assume management responsibility for the fire at 6:00 AM on Thursday, June 13, 2013. Due to increased fire behavior and heavy smoke, all air resources have been removed from the fire location with the exception of Air Attack and they are monitoring all fire activity from the sky for safety purposes. Infrared mapping flight will happen tonight, which will give a more accurate number of acres burned. nmfireinfo/2013/06/11/jaroso-fire-update-june-10-2013-1000-pm/
