Jason Brown: We have a neighbor who is 77, (who has lived in his house since the 1950s) that has no family support. His house has been cited by the city for the condition of his roof. Honestly the whole house needs major work, but the roof should have been replaced +20 yrs ago. He is on a low fixed income, & is a very sweet but quiet man. He has no internet or knowledge to research, & little $$ to spend on what will probably be a +$10,000 repair. Is there any sort of assistance from the state or city to help find a way to repair this situation? He asked me while almost in tears this morning to try to help him, because he is afraid he is going to lose his house over this, & it is all he has left. His house is a major eyesore, but the location of it makes it almost entirely hidden from any view. Its the last house on a tiny dead end street, & the only reason I think the city got wind of it, is that the long vacant house across the street was just renovated (very poorly) by a real estate flipper. If anyone has any ideas, I would love the feedback, because feeling his hand tremble as I shook it, made this feel like something I need help fix. Ill take an ugly house with a kind gentle soul for a neighbor any day. Thanks Long Beach, any help is greatly appreciated.
