Jason Lane pitched his tail off today, but one mistake in the 7th - TopicsExpress

Jason Lane pitched his tail off today, but one mistake in the 7th ended up being the difference in the game, as Pads lose to Braves 2-0 (yes this is the correct final core today). Lane matched zeros with Santana for 6, then a slider that didnt get in enough was hit by Gattis for a HR to break the 0-0 tie in the 7th. The Braves scored another in the 8th to hand a 2-0 lead to Kimbrel who blew the Friars away 1-2-3 on 98 MPH fastballs and wicked sliders to strike out the side. He is one of the most overpowering closers Ive ever seen, with the fastball and slider combo. Tough loss once again for a Padres starting pitcher who put forth a tremendous effort but could not get any run support. Lane used hi 86-87 MPH heater, along with the slider, and change to keep the Braves off balance most of the day, and chimed in with one of the 5 Padres hits. Maybe well see him again as either a starter or reliever, as hes been effective as both so far now for the Pads this year. Pads will head home and start a three game series against the Cardinals tomorrow with Ross and Lynn going at it for game one. First pitch is at 7:10, and hope to see you there.
