Jason Update: Jason had surgery for his arm today. Surgery is - TopicsExpress

Jason Update: Jason had surgery for his arm today. Surgery is expected to last 3-4 hrs (on 2 1/2.hrs now). Praying for the surgeon and his team, for skill, wisdom, and accuracy. Praying for resolution of issues with his left hand tendons. Hell be groggy tonight since hes going under generak anesthesia (terrifying since he just woke up. :( .) We are also praying Kaiser will listen to our case workers request on our behalf to not transfer him at this point. If they transfer him hell go to Kaiser Vallejo which is a real hardship: Moving him there takes away all but 1 person in Jasons support network; to support him with his care, Mike would have to live up there with him away from us; I work 12 hrs and am off 3-4 days a week, but have the other kids living at home - someone needs to be home for them too. We need to still get our daughter to school. Then there is Mikes heart condition to consider - his health is a huge concern for me. I cant give him breaks when he needs it or have someone else give him a break if they are in Vallejo. Additionally, I would not be learning with them how to help Jason accomplish his goals; We are also concerned with continuity of existing current medical care; Finally VMC is considered the #1 TBI care and rehab facility in the state. We would really prefer a TBI facility over regular rehab. I prayed about and identified what needs were most important. At this point I hope Kaisers liaison takes all these factors into consideration. Over all Jasons progress is quite remarkable. We are happy with the small stuff he is constantly showing us he remembers how to do. So very grateful he still has a sense of humor and can understand us and communicate what he wants to us, knows who everyone is and is becoming aware of himself again. Day 2 and his progress is a bkessing and answer to our prayers. Keep praying...
