Javed Rana rubbishes reports of joining PDP, calls it political conspiracy Alleges blackmailing by Early Times JAMMU FEBRUARY 03- Rubbishing the speculations about his joining Peoples Democratic Party, senior National Conference leader and Deputy Chairman Legislative Council Mr Javed Rana on Monday described a report appearing in a section of press as a deliberate attempt to create confusion and to further the interests of a particular political outfit, which finds itself in the political wilderness due to fast dwindling support in Poonch-Rajouri belt. Addressing a Press Conference heretoday, Rana said “planting of the report in Early Times a newspaper which has donned upon himself the role of being the mouthpiece of PDP speaks volumes about its political bankruptcy that has forced the party to take recourse to such treacherous machinations”, Mr Rana said while questioning the timing of spreading such canards to hoodwink public opinion. Ostensibly, perturbed over the unprecedented enthusiasm among the people over creation of new administrative units by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the PDP wants to divert the attention by utilizing services of a few odd paid scribes to create doubts and generate confusion about political loyalties, he added. The Deputy Chairman vowed to fight the mischievous elements who volunteer themselves to become tools of unscrupulous politicians in furthering their agenda in lieu of considerations. While the media, by and large, has been performing its crucial and important role with objectivity and professional ethics, some black sheep tend to undermine its sanctity by indulging in yellow journalism, he maintained. Mr Rana said it is very sad that Early Times reporters have been continuously approaching him and asking for money. He refused to get blackmailed and this news item is a consequence of that, he asserted. Mr Rana said the report simply deserves to be dismissed with contempt it deserves but keeping in view its nuisance value, it becomes imperative to expose the mischievous elements and their mentors in political arena who base their politics on deception and fraud. He said questioning his loyalty towards National Conference must have even put his worst detractors in a fix but given their sick mindset they could not have resisted the temptation of maligning his reputation. Such senseless attributes, he said, will further strengthen his resolve to fight back the anti-people elements with full might, who find their political space shrinking with each passing day. He said Poonch-Rajouri belt will continue to be a strong bastion of National Conference and every worker will work like a committed soldier to protect the fort of Sher-e-Kashmir. Rana further asserted that PDP will be completely routed out of Poonch-Rajouri belt and its deceitful leadership comprising of Mufti Mohd Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti will vanish after 2014 polls from the entire state. “I have decided to file a defamation suit for damages of Rs. 10.00 crores against the Editor and Proprietors of Early Times for deliberately conspiring to damage my reputation thereby making a vain attempt to affect my political career and I am moving a privilege motion also in the Legislative Council against them”, the Deputy Chairman of J&K Legislative Council said.
