Jay Moriarity is someone who I never had the pleasure of meeting but his zest for life, love of the outdoors, and his ability to see the beauty in almost any situation has certainly left a lasting impression on me. Jay died at the tender age of 22, but his spirit lives on in the many lives he impacted. He was also one of the most naturally gifted big wave surfers on the planet. Friends, if you get a chance I recommend you watch the movie Chasing Mavericks, which chronicles his short life and his friendship with Mavericks surfer and mentor Frosty Hesson.
