Jay Zeamer Jr. (July 25, 1918–March 22, 2007) was perhaps the most unlikely Medal of Honor Recipient. A pilot who learned to fly in Glenview, Illinois, Zeamer served in the US Army Air Forces in the South Pacific during World War II. He received the Medal of Honor for valor during an air mission on June 16, 1943. hi bombardier, 2nd Lt. Joseph Sarnoski was also awarded the Medal of Honor, the only instance of World War II when two members of one crew were honored for separate acts of heroism in the same combat engagement. All other members of Zeamers crew received the Distinguished Service Cross for this one mission.
