Jayhawk Theatre Ad-The Topeka Daily State Journal, January 29, 1929 Did some more reading on Daisy and Violet Hilton that preformed on the Jayhawk stage in 1929. Daisy and Violet Hilton born February 5, 1908 in Brighton, England they were bought from their mother and trained to perform and toured England by the age of 3. They later toured the US and in 1926 performed with Bob Hope in an act called the Dancemedians with the Hilton Sisters who had a tap-dancing routine. In 1932 they performed in the movie Freaks. Two Musicals have been written based on the twins lives, Twenty Fingers Twenty Toes and a 1989 and a Broadway Musical, , Side Show, with lyrics by Bill Russell and music by Henry Krieger, which received four Tony nominations. They were abandoned by their tour manager after an appearance in Charlotte, North Carolina at a drive in movie theatre and forced to take a job in a grocery store. Daisy and Violet died within days of each other of the Hong Kong flu in 1961, only being check up on when the failed to report to work.
