Jazz Version of Guns N’ Roses’ ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ Drawing Millions of Views Over the decades, Guns N Roses‘ charttopping ‘Sweet Child o Mine’ has become part of the fabric of rock. Every element — from its ballad-like opening verses to its soaring guitar solo to its “where do we go now” breakdown — is as epic as it is familiar. Until now. Pianist Scott Bradlee and his band Postmodern Jukebox have taken the ‘Appetite for Destruction’ favorite and transformed it completely. The results combine old-school New Orleans jazz with Axl Rose, in what surely must be a first. Miche Braden handles the memorable vocal, adding a soulful touch, even as Bradlee’s ensemble — crammed into a tiny room in Queens, New York, in the video above — meander through a boozy, warbling accompaniment. So weird that it’s utterly transfixing, this ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’ update has already drawn more than 2.6 million YouTube views — and counting — since February. Of course, Bradlee’s fans know this isn’t the first time he’s experimented with a genre-bending cover.
