Jazz for Labour! A host of Britain’s top jazz musicians will perform at a ‘Jazz for Labour’ concert at the Barbican Centre on February 27th to show their support for the Party in the run up to the general election. The event is billed as ‘A Concert for Fairness and Diversity’ to celebrate the values that Labour has in common with jazz and its roots. It follows the example set by ‘Jazz for Obama’ in New York in 2012. All Labour Party members, supporters, friends and jazz fans are welcome. Musicians include: Courtney Pine; Claire Martin; Arun Ghosh; Liane Carroll; Ian Shaw; Andy Sheppard; Christine Tobin; Gary Crosby; Phil Robson; John Etheridge; Tim Garland; Soweto Kinch; Kate Williams; Jay Phelps; Phil Meadows; Juliet Kelly; Dave O’Higgins; Alex Webb/Cafe Society Swing; with Trans-Atlantic solidarity from the Darius Brubeck Quartet. The concert is being promoted by former Labour MP and now Parliamentary Candidate, Bob Blizzard. Harriet Harman said, “I’m delighted that so many of Britain’s leading jazz musicians are showing their support for the Labour Party and the values we share, by staging a high profile concert at one of London’s top venues. It will be a great night out and make an important statement in the run up to the election.” Tickets from: barbican.org.uk Further information at: jazzforlabour.org
