Je ne suis pas Charlie….and why… Everyone in Europe and - TopicsExpress

Je ne suis pas Charlie….and why… Everyone in Europe and beyond seems to have been caught up in the tidal wave of sympathy and rage created by the terrorist attacks in France last week. Regrettable and reprehensible as such acts are they are by no means unique in the world. Without going into specific figures and places, we should all be aware by now of the death and misery brought upon innocent civilians by the so called “civilized world”. The gathering of world “leaders” in Paris to demonstrate their unity in condemning these acts was nothing more than an insulting display of hypocrisy, as most of those “leaders” present there belong in the dock of the ICC facing trials for War Crimes and crimes against humanity. Charlie Hebdo is nothing more than a hate publication with a very small following, [at least until the recent events], that devoted its efforts to attacking the religious beliefs of a poor minority in France. Ive had people who claimed that this was an attack on the noble ideal of “Freedom of the Press”. These are usually the people who are either clueless on what’s going on in the world and how NOT free the press really is, or those who have an agenda in promoting this tripe. Satire, as some choose to call the “efforts” of the now household name of Charlie Hebdo, does not and should not attack the divine figures in peoples’ faiths. By all means, satirize the hypocritical practices of the church, any church, satirize the corrupt politicians who are responsible for most of the world’s ills, satirize public figures all of whom have the opportunity to defend themselves and their reputations; satirizing Jesus Christ or Mohammed is not merely bad form, it is a deliberate action to provoke extreme reaction by those for whom these figures are Holly. Charlie Hebdo was not and is not providing a valuable service to the community…. there is nothing noble in what it is trying to achieve…. it is merely a cheap hate publication of no moral or ethical standards.
