Jean Toal, SC Supreme Court Chief Justice is up for reappointment. Please contact you state representative delegation and encourage them to NOT reappoint her. Why? It was Jean Toal’s court that forced South Carolina’s Governor to request the Stimulus money back in 2009 when it was refused it. In 2010, more than 200 candidates were thrown off the ballot. Last year Chief Justice Toal wrote a decision that literally guts South Carolina’s Stand Your Ground law. Basically she has allowed any anti-gun judge to deny your request for Stand Your Ground protection and you cannot appeal that decision unless you are convicted. Please contact your legislative delegation and ask them to NOT reappoint her. My understanding is that she can legally start lobbying for commitments on Tuesday next week. Call, email, fax requests to them to back away from commitments to Chief Justice Toal.
