Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan pulls out in Turkey NEW DELHI, SEPT. 12: The second-seeded Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan withdrew from the $10,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament in Antalya, Turkey, owing to a painful foot. He was replaced by lucky-loser Victor Prokpov of Ukraine in the draw. Ranked a career-best 323, the 24-year-old Jeevan rushed to his training base in Germany to seek medical advice. ‘’We did the X-ray, and found that it was basically an over-stressed ligament. I have been advised to ice the foot, do light swimming and rest for a week’’, said Jeevan, when contacted. After Turkey, Jeevan had planned to compete in Burundi and Rwanda, followed by a $15,000 tournament in Nigeria. Having made back to back finals in two $15,000 ITF tournaments in Libreville, Gabon, Jeevan had entered more tournaments in Africa in search of precious ATP points that would help him jump into the Challenger circuit. Jeevan said that he hoped to recover soon at his training centre in Germany, the Schuttler Waske tennis academy, and get back to the professional circuit.
