Jennifer Proseusposted toBadass Parents Association National PTA is going against its own Position Statement and supporting Common Core (could it be because of all the money from Bill Gates???). Here is their own PTA Position Statement: • "The National PTA supports nationally agreed upon voluntary standards IF they are derived by consensus at the state and local levels. PARENTS MUST BE INVOLVED in this process. • National PTA opposes federal legislation and/or regulations that mandate standardized testing or would lead to such testing, as well as federal policies that mandate comparisons of states, school districts, or individual schools and student retention based on a single test" [the capitalizations were added for emphasis. Common Core is not voluntary, not derived by consensus, and parents were definitely not involved. In fact, the local level has no voice in this one bit. Furthermore, common core and standardized testing are inseparable, and students may be retained due to their test score being a part of their grade.] If you are a PTA member, please contact the PTA to let them know it is not okay to sell our voice to a corporate billionaire.
