Jeremiah 31:2 The people who survived the sword, found grace in the wilderness... In this little known verse, we find a significant truth of Gods redemption, that applies to you and me today! You are a survivor!! Youve been through the battle and yet today, you are alive and in existence...to survive means to carry on despite hardships or trauma...it means to persevere. Just when others thought you were down for the count...you are still standing! The word sword (charab) means to attack, smite down, fight...In other words, the enemy brought the sword against you and gave it his best shot...you came out of the battle a little dazed, battle weary, somewhat desolate and maybe feeling defeated...but God has a plan for you! His plan for you is...Grace! The Old Testament word means that God is ushering you into a season of divine favor and acceptance on a level that transcends the very battle that you have been in. He lifts you above the onslaught of the enemy, which means that His grace and provision EXCEEDS the battle and the trial that you are facing. And heres the kicker: He says that He will do it in the wilderness (dabar)...I love that, because it literally means that God is releasing His grace upon you in the very land that you have been threatened. In modern day terms...he is going to defeat the enemy on his own turf!! Going through a rough time? Hang on...the battle isnt over! God will be exalted, the devil will be defeated and Jesus is Lord over your life and circumstances!!
