Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes with his original Dr. Watson, David Burke. Or as my mother calls the late Mr. Brett, the ONLY Sherlock Holmes. FYI Jessie Ray Cunningham (And... I should admit that I only felt better about then-nobody Cumberbatch taking the Sherlock Holmes role when he mentioned Jeremy Brett -- during an interview I had NO interest in listening to but it was sandwiched between interviews with Patrick Stewart and David Tennant and I had no choice. Yeah, well, I thought he was just talking about having watched the episodes. ACTUALLY, Brett had been a friend of the family (!) and hed talked with him LOTS of times over the years. And I think that was the first Id heard that Brett had passed away years ago. This should have been my first clue to stop underestimating Cumberbatch. It wasnt...)
