Jeremy Brunk Im not a cop, but I am a soldier. I dont believe cops are bad, but there are bad cops. There is a problem with the culture tho, the training, very similar to training military gets when policing the citizenry of a hostile nation like Iraq. Impose control over situations, present a commanding presence, maintain distance, keep guard up, issue commands not request... So on. We all see it growing in police forces all over the nation. That is what we mean by militarization, its not just te gear they carry, its the training and the culture it breeds. Cops are starting to treat all situations like they are in danger and the people they interact with are a threat... On the flip side, the citizenry sees this, and are beginning to display the same behavior towards police, they think they are in danger. It is a slippery slope, and it seems to me that many of the recent cases of violent police encounters are a result of this. Both parties perceive the other as a threat, something uncomfortable happens, shit escalates quickly, and often ends in tragedy. ~Jeremy Brunk
