Jerry Rogers Thought for the Day: It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost of all. And yet for this reason I found mercy, in order that in me as the foremost, Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience, as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. I Timothy 1:15-17 Early in the Apostle Paul’s ministry, he described himself as the “least of the apostles” (I Corinthians 15:9); later, as the “least of the saints” (Ephesians 3:8); and in this letter to Timothy, nearing the end of his life, as the “foremost” of all sinners. Dear ones, the Apostle Paul did not get worse, he simply grew closer to the Lord Jesus, and the reality is that the closer you are to Perfection, the more aware you become of your own imperfections. So, feeling pretty good about myself today may well mean that I need to spend some serious time with my Lord Jesus, asking Him to let me see myself as He sees me and then give me the grace to make the necessary course corrections. After such an exercise, a burst of praise is the natural response of the child of the King as it was to the Apostle Paul! Let’s praise Him, saints, for His mercy!
