Jersey Boys movie filming in Kearny today 1 / 20 By Aiyana Cronk/The Jersey Journal Email the author | Follow on Twitter on October 16, 2013 at 1:23 PM, updated October 16, 2013 at 5:02 PM The film adaptation of Broadway smash Jersey Boys: The Story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons is filming today in Kearny. Elm Street, between Stuyvesant and Seeley avenues, has been transformed from a modern day residential street to a 1960s neighborhood, complete with vintage cars from the era. Movie giant Clint Eastwood is directing the picture, set to open next year. The film stars Christopher Walken as Angelo Gyp DeCarlo, and John Lloyd Young as Frankie Valli. Setup began yesterday and filming will begin this evening after nightfall, a crew member said. Makeup and hair are being done at St. Stephens R.C. Church on Kearny and Laurel avenues throughout the day. They have been working on the film permits for quite some time, said Lyla DeCastro-Lawdanski, Kearnys recreation chairwoman. Theyre taking a part of a small town and transforming it for this film. Once filming starts, Elm Street will be closed, but police will be present to redirect traffic around the filming area. Until the cameras roll, pedestrians are permitted to walk up and down the streets, and tonight they may even be able to catch a glimpse of the stars near their trailers on Seeley Avenue.
