Jesus, I believe, would be unhappy with the idol worship. I - TopicsExpress

Jesus, I believe, would be unhappy with the idol worship. I believe that he would be more concerned with people learning his teachings. Most Christians dont know that Rome adopted Christianity in order to stop and take control of the Christian movement. It was here when they started to reference people as sheep and Jesus as Lord, which I think he would take offense to. Jesus was interested in people getting along, laws respected, the people in need being cared for, and people finding a higher spiritual calling. The Roman Church hunted down all of the Christian sects, persecuted them, and burned their documentations of Jesus and their religious writings. The Christian Bible has to be looked at from this perspective as an altered document. I recommend a book. Dont get scared by the title, it is a historical book, The Origin of Satan by expert prize winning Harvard historian Elaine Pagels takes you from the first written references to the angel Satan and how the concepts of him began to evolve over time. It talks about how ambitious religious leaders began to reference Satan in order to deal with political enemies. It talks about Romes bloody massacre of the Jews and how Greek religion merged with Judaism to become Christianity, and how Rome silenced all the non-conforming Christian churches within its empire. It talks about the death of Greek Paganism, and takes a CSI approach to Jesus life and death, presenting new evidence recently brought to light about Jesus life and times. It is a beautiful book with so many revelations, sometimes I could only read three pages at a time until my mind settled around it.
