Jesus, The Measure Of Your Righteousness 2 Corinthians 5:21 21For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. God wants us to seek His righteousness and not our own righteousness. When we seek our own righteousness, we will always end up feeling miserable because we can never be righteous by our works, no matter how hard we try. That is why our loving Father wants us to remember that righteousness is not right behavior but a person — Jesus Christ and that we have “become the righteousness of God in Him”. 1 Corinthians 1:30 But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who BECAME for us wisdom from God— and RIGHTEOUSNESS and sanctification and redemption— I had for many years honestly believed in attempting to establish my own righteousness by confessing all my sins to “clean” myself up. But I found that the more I confessed my sins, the more sins I discovered in myself. I became guilt-ridden and miserable. Feeling stressed out and weary of confessing all my sins all the time, I eventually left the church I was attending. In fact, I was a backslider for over 6 years. One day, I visited to my sisters church And I remember the Pastor asking the audience 2 Questions about Righteousness? Question 1. How many believe you CAN grow in Righteousness? Most of the people raise their hands, including myself. Question 2. How many believe you CANT grow in Righteousness? Very few hands went up. The Pastor went on and said the Answer is: You CANT grow in Righteousness! He went on to explain this: He ask someone to read Romans 5:1 Which says: 1 Therefore, having been JUSTIFIED by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, He Explained the word JUSTIFIED in the original Greek text is the same word as to declare, pronounce, one to be just, one to be RIGHTEOUS. He then had someone else read 2 Corinthians 5:21 Which says: For he hath MADE him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be MADE the righteousness of God in him. He explained: God the Father MADE Jesus Christ to be Sin for us, who did not sin That we might be MADE the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ. Once I learned that Jesus was the measure of my righteousness (which is really His Righteousness received as a Free Gift) and God the Father places me IN HIM - This is my acceptance before God, I began to seek God’s righteousness by seeing Christ as My righteousness. Before long, Gods Peace & Joy came flooding back into my life. Today, my desire is Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Beloved, seeking God’s righteousness means: that you see Jesus as someone who knew no sin but became sin for you, so that He could give you His righteousness and make you the righteousness of God in Him! As you proclaim daily the truth that you are the Righteousness of God in Christ, you will see “all these things” (Matthew 6:33) added to you without even asking for them! Amen! Amen!
