Jesus did not die for your bank account, He did not hang from the - TopicsExpress

Jesus did not die for your bank account, He did not hang from the cross so you could live your best life now. He does not promise you healing in this life. (And no, Isaiah 53:5 does not mean that!) He does not promise you a life full of prosperity. (No. Jeremiah 29:11 does not mean that.) It is very easy to get trapped into this teaching because it makes you feel good. This is a false gospel. This is what Paul says: Galatians 1:8 ESV But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. Jesus died for the remission of sins. An act of love and grace so we would not have to face the eternal damnation we deserve. We are told as Christians we will face persecution: 2 Timothy 3:12 ESV Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted We are told as Christians we will be hated: Matthew 10:22 ESV and you will be hated by all for my names sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved But people do not want to hear this. Why? Because this does not satisfy our worldly desires. But we are reminded here: Matthew 16:26 ESV For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? Scripture says this, yet people still flock to these teachers (Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer and TD Jakes to name a few) to hear how they can live their best life now! Why? We need look no further than: 2 Timothy 4:3-4 ESV For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.
