Jesus did practice a 40 day retreat into the desert. But some later Christians have gone a bit far. Still, it might work for them and a praying man or woman is a good thing. I get a bit worried when people take the often sensible teaching of religious founders, and go to far. I am not convinced the Buddha would have been keen on the Japanese monks who self-mummified themselves, nor Muhammad keen on people who whip their backs with knives (some Shia), or push metal through their tongues (some sufis). I think Jesus (love), Buddha (compassion) and Muhammad (creation of a Muslim Ummah of peace) were all much more grounded guys, if somewhat different. A few seconds ago · Like
