Jesus for the day we had for the outing this year at Warren Valley. Our outing ended up having 116 golfers and 21 hole sponsors. While the amount of golfers was about the same as last year, we did happen to have a few more hole sponsors thanks in part to Stan Malewski Jr. Thanks again Stan! We changed a few things this year with a new course, a new caterer and a “wager” hole ran by the Squires. We received many compliments on these changes and I am also proud to say that the Squires went home with $594.00! When I heard this from Chief Counselor Dave Vincent I couldnt believe it. We honestly had no idea what was going to happen with this idea but Im glad we decided to give it a try. I was so happy for them! Dave says the funds will be used well in their upcoming activities. To all of those that participated in this optional event, Dave and I personally want to say “Thank you!” to all of you. You all made their day, as well as mine, a great one. If someone knows of a golfer that is not a member and gave money at this hole, please pass our “Thank You” to them as well. I am proud to see that our Brother Knights and fellow golfers supported our Squires Circle #801! After our round of golf, the group proceeded to the Holy Cross Lounge for drinks, the “social hour” and dinner. There were golf payouts for Skins, two Mystery scores, three closest to the pins and a longest putt. We also had the customary team only ticket raffle with a payout this year of $240.00, a 50/50 raffle with a payout of $369.00 and a “basket” raffle where 35+ items were raffled off for a fundraiser for our council. If you weren’t there as a golfer or dinner guest ($30), you missed a chance on some great items. We had a restaurant gift certificate from Andiamo’s, a overnight hotel stay with breakfast at the Best Western in Allen Park, a fire pit, two Pandora bracelets each having a charm, tickets to a Tiger game, golf shirts, several sports items , a bar mirror, wine, a golf bag and a cooler combo just to name a few things. If you want to come for dinner next year, let us know. The $30 has to be paid before the event however since this is a fundraising event for our council! We personally want to thank the sponsors, contributors and EVERYONE that either physically helped, made contributions, sponsored holes, solicited for hole sponsorship or raffle items, gave us feedback on this outing or just plain bought tickets to help support our council. Once again my cautious hopes were greatly exceeded. Much hard work, time and effort was put into this event and it paid off at the Lounge and on the course. On a personal note, I didn’t agree to help run this outing because I think Im good enough at golf because I am NOT. Just ask around! Ha ha. I agreed to do it for everyone to get together, see some familiar faces, meet some new faces and have some fun and laughs. It was great seeing everyone! After all the debts were paid, I was very proud to hand over a check to our Council for $1,603.00 on behalf of this entire event.
