Jesus is our friend, brother, mentor, advocate and source of comfort. He said “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” If you’ve been following the Mark Driscoll fiasco you may have noticed that Pastor Driscoll’s vision of faith is a dark, confusing, burdensome, confining, ugly mess. Some of us actually feel sorry for Driscoll and his flock. He’s lost, and as a result so are his followers. What’s ironic is that he once accused President Obama taking an oath to “a God he likely does not know.” What a grand example of projection. Driscoll needs to step down. His warped view of our Lord is toxic and it’s hurting people. He’s not fit for leadership.
