Jesus is the epitome. The epitome of faith, love, hope, really all that God Himself is, hugh, really. The second definition of the word epitome is, a summary of a written work, an abstract. Makes sense because JESUS is the subject of the entire Word of God. He is the epitome of who God is. So what is wrong with me Lord? Why do I keep looking for idols? Searching for that book, that method, that teaching, that teacher? When in reality it is all Him, and He is all I need? Israel did the very same thing. Let me show you what I learned today by starting with something the Lord showed me years ago. Lets turn to Amos, 5:25 and 26. Have ye offered unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel? But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves. -- KJV I found this section in Amos after reading about the death of Stephen by stoning in Acts 7, as Saul, consenting, looked on. I wondered at how they could have beheld Stephens face as that of an angel and then so soon destroyed that same face by stoning Stephen to death. I have often focused on how wonderful Stephens last words were, spoken out of understanding and total forgiveness, but I couldnt move past the record without God helping me to understand why the Pharisees would respond with such hatred when they had listened and heard Stephens words. I found the verses in the book of Amos shortly after someone made this comment to me. David had no symbols in his tabernacle in the wilderness.
