Jesus rises in the flesh on the third day but how often do we - TopicsExpress

Jesus rises in the flesh on the third day but how often do we consider what the Scriptures plainly teach, from Matthew to Revelation: his embodied existence continues for eternity. Christ sits at the right hand of the Father, where his remembered experience of contingent, painful, weary, thirsty, hungry, anxious, vexed and limited embodiment remains part of who he is forever. He holds all things together as the embodied Son. And as he rules, he also recalls the joy, exhilaration, laughter, adventure, and satisfying exertion of human nature. Every skipped beat, every halting breath, every embrace, every tense moment, every hunger pain, every whispered affection of his mother, every sawdust day with Joseph, every exhaustion of his life among us informs his identity as our Great High Priest. He also remembers what its like to rejoice and throw a great festival to celebrate being alive. When he made wine at Cana he made Brunello (one can only imagine...perhaps something more brilliant than that). What a mysterious, unexpected God. He remains as intimate in his relationship to humanity as the transfigured flesh and memory of the holy Son, who prays and acts on our behalf within God as one of us. Alleluia.
