Jesus taught us to love EVERYBODY? Lets see... Our neighbors Our enemies Other believers Yep. Thats pretty much everybody. Many in this world think that this kind of love is stupid, moronic, will make one a sucker, a push over--the list goes on. Whatever the verdict, the consensus would be that loving this way, in practical, everyday terms, is impossible. They would be right, so long as we try to love according to natural law, which is governed by self preservation. This is the love of the fallen (self centered) nature, and even the animal kingdom. When the Spirit of the one who left heaven, just to clothe Himself in flesh and die for you out of selfless love, dwells in you, you can--and will--do the impossible, the foremost of which is being able to love everybody, including those who hate you and wish for you every kind of destruction and evil. Dont we see, that it is only this kind of love, the love that only Christ offers (and empowers us to carry out), is the single key to overcoming all the hatred in the world? (Love conquers all.) But, until we are willing to let the old nature die, so we can be grafted into His, because we love ourselves (the flesh) so much, we will never be willing and able to let go of ourselves and hang onto His person, His reality, and His love; and we--and other human beings, who suffer as a result of individual and collective selfishness--will continue to suffer as a result.
