Jesus the Son of God is both God and Man in the same blessed - TopicsExpress

Jesus the Son of God is both God and Man in the same blessed Person. We are reminded of His human, as well as His divine nature, of His compassion on the one hand, and His power on the other. His priesthood is not about our sins. Priesthood has to do with our infirmities, such as sickness, persecution, weariness, sorrow, and weakness. All these things are a source of trial for our faith for which His mercy and grace are needed. Mercy is the compassion, and grace is the strength He gives in the midst of these experiences. The Lord Jesus exercises His priesthood in heaven, and on our behalf, after the pattern of Aaron, and according to the order of Melchisedec. The Aaronic pattern was characterized by "compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way" (Hebrews 5:2 KJV). But whereas Aaron could not continue his priesthood by reason of death, an everlasting priesthood distinguishes the Melchisedec order, for Christ lives in the power of an endless life. His priesthood cannot be interrupted by death, for we read: "But this Man, because He continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood" (Hebrews 7:24). The Lord Jesus experienced all the trials and temptations(sin excepted) that we are facing now. "Wherefore it behoved Him in all things to be made like to His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful high priest... For, in that Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to help those that are being tempted"(Hebrews 2:17-18). With such a priest we are encouraged not only to "hold fast our confession" but also to "come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:16 KJV).
