Jesus told a parable: There was a man who had a demon cast out. The evil spirit wandered in the wilderness. It returned and found the mans soul empty and swept clean. The evil spirit gathered seven more evil spirits who returned to the man and he was worse off than before. I have long said that this is a classic picture of relapse.....push it out, it comes back worse.....every time....UNLESS......you fill up the empty space with things that prevent it from coming back. One cannot simply cast aside ones old people, places, and things. Instead, one must have new, engaging, meaningful, valued, experiences, people, and places with which to fill her life so that the old ways have no place to which to return......This article is further proof of the TRUTH of this spiritual, sociological, vocational, and relational cure for addiction....what we strive to accomplish with the women who come to Titus 2....give them a multitude of reasons to get and stay clean. Take them out of the subculture of addiction, recovery, relapse, toxic relationships, hopelessness, etc. where many have existed.....and into healthy communities of faith and productive living where they can restart their lives with better surroundings and opportunities for success.
