Jesus’ actions, His words, and His spirit were so different than - TopicsExpress

Jesus’ actions, His words, and His spirit were so different than that of anyone else that the soldiers had seen die on a cross, that as they watched our Savior die, they knew this was no normal man. So much so that they declared that He was the “God man” saying, “Truly this was the Son of God” (Matthew 27:54). No one really knows the name of the Centurion who was in charge of Jesus’ death, but tradition tells us that his name was Longinus. But the Bible gives him no name. Matthew, Mark, and Luke simply identify him as an officer who had been so loyal to the Roman Empire that he was entrusted with difficult assignments (like crucifixions), and was given 100 soldiers to help him complete them. Watching the hatefulness of the surrounding mob, and watching the loving silence of Jesus, this man who would have been a hardened soldier, came under conviction and confessed Jesus as the Son of God. The Bible makes it clear in 1 Peter 2:23 that any normal person in these circumstances would have “reviled back”, yet he declares very clearly that Jesus was different and that He “kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously.” When we are being treated unfairly, or when things just arent going our way, the way to keep going and to keep our heads held high is found in that verse. When you dont understand whats going on, keep entrusting yourself to Him who judges righteously. Just trust the Father!
