Jhuggi demolition in Wazirpur stalled by invincible spirit and struggle of the Jhuggi dwellers under the banner of CPI-ML! Expose the bluff of #Achhedin In the morning of 16th December, in the chilling cold of Delhi, delhi police along with bulldozers came to the Wazirpur area and started demolishing slums, physically throwing people including old residents and children out of their dwellings. But the bulldozer had to stop that day facing resistance from CPI-ML cadres in the area and other slum dwellers. The same day, some of us along with AICCTU comrades went to the Northern Railway office as it was told that the demolition order has been given by northern railway. The language and attitude of Mr. Rahul Srivastava, senior officer in Norther Railways, once again revealed to us, how so called public servants have been trained to serve the people. He told us we are actually doing harm for the society by standing by the slum dwellers. According to him, these slum dwellers all are criminals and dangerous for the society. On 16th, CPI-ML cadres also got warning from the police that the bulldozers will come again on 20th. But the unity of the slum dwellers and the consistent struggle of CPI-ML in the area has ensured that the Delhi High Court puts a stay order on demolition and the demolition has been stalled. Today, when the bulldozers were supposed to come again, we along with CPI-ML comrades from that area were present in the area. But this time, the bulldozers did not appear. Here are some pictures from a meeting in that area and the truth of #swattchbharat abhiyan. People are forced to live in dwellings literally surrounded by human excreta. Rampant manual scavenging is visible. Rather than ensuring basic minimum rights for them, the government of #Achhedin sends bulldozers to demolish whatever little dwellings they have made for themselves. CPI-ML is committed to carry forward the struggle against slum demolition, for right to dignified residence, toilets, drinking water and legal minimum rights for the workers .
